First-generation iPhone is predicted to sell for over $50,000 at an auction

The initial iPhone cost $599 and had a 3.5-inch screen, 2-megapixel camera, and 4 GB or 8 GB storage.

An unopened iPhone from the first version made in 2007 would be auctioned off with an estimated value of $50,000. The auction, which is being conducted by LCG Auctions, began on Thursday and is slated to conclude on February 19. 

First iPhone Model At Auction

The original iPhone featured a display of 3.5 inches and a 2-megapixel camera. It also had 4 GB or 8 GB of storage, Internet connection, and iTunes, and retailed for $599 at the time, which was comparable to Rs 49,225.

It was exclusively available on AT&T’s network, lacked an app store, and operated on a 2G network. Cosmetic tattoo artist Karen Green, who was featured in a 2019 CNN article, appeared on the daytime television program The Doctor & the Diva.

She stated that her friends had given her the 8 GB version of the phone, but swore she had never opened the packaging. At the time, an appraiser on the show believed that the phone was worth $5,000. (Rs 4.1 lakh). 

She determined that it would be prudent to delay her purchase so that the price may increase.

Ms. Green is attempting to fund her cosmetic tattoo studio in New Jersey this year, therefore she has decided to sell her phone. The phone is currently being auctioned off, with a minimum bid of $2500.

Despite being around sixteen years old, the phone is in good condition. It boasts sharp corners on both the front and back, vivid color, and case fresh qualities.

Under the seal, the labels on the reverse are in pristine shape, and there is minimal shelf wear. This is the first original iPhone in sufficient condition to be auctioned off since the record-breaking sale in October.

In October 2022, LCG Auctions auctioned off another unopened iPhone of the first generation, which sold for more than $39,000. The auction advertisement was removed in October 2022.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs gave a keynote talk at the 2007 Macworld Expo. Today, each of us will contribute to the writing of history, he remarked.  He touted the new smartphone, which would contain an iPod, a phone, and something he called an Internet communicator, as a revolutionary mobile phone.

Regarding mobile device web browsers, Jobs had the following to say: “Today’s weather is extremely awful. The advent of authentic Web browsing capabilities on mobile devices ushers in a new age.”
