A former US federal prosecutor, Glenn Kirschner, with a wealth of experience in both the US Army and the federal government, has expressed a strong belief in the “extremely high” likelihood of Donald Trump facing conviction in at least one of the ongoing criminal investigations against him.
In an interview with Sky News, Kirschner highlighted the significant weight of Republican witnesses in these cases, making it challenging for Trump to claim unfair persecution.
Former President Confronts 91 Felony Charges Across Multiple Jurisdictions
The former president currently faces a staggering total of 91 felony criminal charges across five jurisdictions. These charges encompass a range of allegations, from illegal election interference to mishandling classified documents.
Kirschner emphasized the unique nature of the witnesses set to testify, noting that they are predominantly Republicans, including former cabinet members, the former attorney-general, and the former vice president.
Speculating on potential outcomes, Kirschner suggested that if Trump is convicted for attempting to overturn the 2020 election, a severe sentence may be imposed to discourage future candidates from engaging in similar behavior.
“Nobody knows if he will go to jail, but given the nature of his [alleged] crimes – assuming he’s convicted for essentially trying to bring an end to the peaceful transfer of presidential power – I believe the judge and prosecution team understand that if you don’t punish that dramatic wrongdoing, then you’re giving the next aspiring dictator a green light to do it all over again.”

Kirschner Criticizes Trump’s COVID-19 Response
Kirschner, who previously served under Trump-era special prosecutor Robert Mueller, has not hesitated to criticize Trump’s actions in the past. He previously argued that Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic could be equated to manslaughter or even murder.
The legal challenges facing Trump are diverse, with both federal and state charges in Georgia related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Prosecutors allege that these efforts amounted to a criminal conspiracy. Additionally, Trump faces accusations of illegally holding classified presidential documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate and violating campaign finance laws by paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
