Florida police confirm several teenage shootings in rural region; consider out serial killer

Three days in rural Marion County, Florida authorities found three teenagers with gunshot wounds, two of whom died. Still looking for suspects.

Authorities in Florida are searching for suspects in an apparent attempted triple homicide involving three teenage victims, two of whom are deceased, that occurred between March 30 and April 1.

Florida mysterious killings

The murders began on March 30, and on that day, officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were sent to the area of Forest Lakes Park on SE 183rd Avenue Road.

On behalf of her family, authorities transported the teenager to the hospital in critical condition, where she remains brain dead.

In light of this tragedy, Layla’s family has decided to donate her organs so that she can help others. A day after discovering Silvernail, MCSO deputies responded to SE 94th Street and SE 188th Court and discovered a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound who was deceased.

The next morning, on April 1, the MCSO Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Unit, and Underwater Recovery Team responded to Malauka Loop and Malauka Loop Trace after receiving information that Layla’s vehicle was partially submerged at the edge of a nearby body of water.

After obtaining a search warrant and searching her vehicle, authorities discovered a second 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the MCSO, all three homicides are connected.

In addition to dispelling rumors of a fourth victim or serial killer suspect, Woods urged anyone with additional information to contact the sheriff’s office.

MCSO stated that its “Major Crimes detectives have ruled out the possibility of a serial killer,” but when asked to elaborate, they did not.
