The attorney for Suzanne Simpson’s husband, the missing Texas mother of four, filed a motion to visit his four children while he is in detention.
Brad Simpson’s court-appointed attorney, Stephen Gilmore, requested a document filed in Bexar County Court No. 7 on Monday. Gilmore argued that the court should allow the 53-year-old to communicate with his four children because none of them are involved in his allegations, and he is not deemed a “flight risk.” Simpson has been in jail for about two weeks after being arrested on October 9, and his prison conditions prevent him from seeing his children. His children are 20, 18, 15, and five years old.
Simpson was first charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member, unlawful restraint, and possession of a prohibited weapon. On Wednesday, he was charged with altering or manipulating physical evidence.
He is being jailed under a $3 million bond. The additional allegations came after Simpson allegedly urged his longtime business colleague, James Valle Cotter, 65, to hide a revolver in his home. Cotter allegedly agreed to conceal an AK-47 in his San Antonio home, hiding it behind a wall.
According to the news site, an AK-47 was located with the assistance of a K-9 team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Cotter was arrested the following day for allegedly concealing the firearm. He was accused of tampering with evidence and lying to police. His bond amount was set at $500,000. Suzanne Simpson has been missing for more than two weeks. She went missing on October 6 after apparently battling with her husband of 22 years in Olmos Park in San Antonio.
At a prior press conference, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas stated that the Simpsons had a “disturbance” at the Argyle, a San Antonio-area club, on October 6. According to an arrest document, a neighbor reported seeing Brad and Suzanne physically fighting that night and hearing screaming from a nearby wooded area afterward. The neighbor noticed that “Ms. Simpson was trying to get away from Mr. Simpson’s grip as he tried to pull her lower,” the report read. About an hour later, the neighbor reported seeing Brad Simpson’s black GMC pickup leave and return an hour later. Mollie Markowitz of Fox News Digital contributed to this article.
