A body was discovered in North Yorkshire while searching for the missing mother, Victoria Taylor. The 34-year-old, who has a small daughter and a partner, went missing from her Malton home on September 30th, prompting an extensive police hunt. According to North Yorkshire Police, a body was found on the River Derwent at 11:45 BST on Tuesday.
Police stated that formal identification had not yet taken place, but Ms Taylor’s family had been notified and assisted by specialist police. At a press briefing, Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox stated that the family was “unsurprising disturbed” by the news.
“Victoria’s family have again asked us for their thanks to all of those who have supported police and other emergency personnel in our efforts to locate Victoria,” the officer said. On the day she vanished, CCTV footage showed the care home nurse moving towards a playground near the river, and belongings belonging to her were found there.
Police said the body was located by underwater search crews near where Ms Taylor’s things were discovered. Since Ms Taylor was reported missing on October 1, river searches have been conducted using divers and sophisticated sonar equipment. Just over a week after her disappearance, authorities concluded there was “an important factor possibility” she had gone into the river. Ms Taylor, originally from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, has received numerous tributes on her page.
