According to a news statement, the Excel Police Department called the Magee Police Department and asked for help finding Destiny Irene Day, a 16-year-old.
Thursday around 7 p.m., her parents filed a missing person’s report.
The teen’s suspected vehicle was spotted by an MPD officer in a retail centre close to AutoZone and Hibbett Sports.
The car was empty when the policeman got close to it.
But the detective kept looking, and he saw the missing teenager walk out of Hibbett Sports with a man.
The teen was safely retrieved by officers once they converged. Thomas Reed Shea, age 22, was identified as the guy.
According to the Excel Police Department, he is awaiting extradition after being accused of a felony in Alabama. More charges are pending.
Shea is being detained at the Magee City Jail right now.
EPD claims that before Shea drove her from Excel, Alabama over state lines, the two became friends on social media.
