‘Forever Pain’: third woman dies in Hialeah tragedy; youngster faces charges

A family has lost a third cousin following a severe crash in Hialeah, for which a teenager is facing adult charges. Smeider Rodriguez said his family was hopeful.

3rd woman dies in Hialeah crash

“After three victims in this accident and having buried two, my mother and my cousin, we at least had hope that my aunt would, someway or another, survive, albeit with many limitations,” he told Telemundo 51.

However, those aspirations were destroyed on Tuesday when Liliana Hernandez Molina, 66, died in a rehabilitation clinic where she had been kept since the April 23 crash. “I’d seen her in a bed for five months, practically asleep, with only her eyes open. It’s tough. And now, surprisingly, she is dying, becoming the third casualty of this tragic accident,” Rodriguez added. Police said 15-year-old Maykoll Santiesteban was driving above 80 mph in a 30-mph zone while joyriding with buddies when he collided with an SUV.

Garcia’s daughter, Yarina Garcia, 39, and his sister-in-law, Gloria Hernandez, 71, were also killed in the crash. “The suffering will last forever, but the one we are experiencing now is enormous,” Hernandez Molina’s husband, Bob Garcia, said. The couple were married for 43 years.”You never imagine such horrors. This is causing a great deal of sorrow for us, as well as for my entire family.

This does not have an explanation. “We don’t know why, why us,” Garcia explained. Santiesteban faces two counts of vehicular homicide, one case of reckless driving, and three counts of driving with a suspended license that causes harm. “He killed them by being extremely irresponsible,” Garcia explained. “They deserve justice. And the family, which has lost half of its members, deserves justice. And our family in Cuba deserves us to fight for justice in this issue,” Rodriguez stated.
