A man was detained after a video showed him reportedly beating a woman, 71, on Dania Beach. A man has been arrested after a video emerged of him reportedly assaulting a 71-year-old woman in Dania Beach last week.
Broward Sheriff’s deputies arrested Manuel Collazo Diago, 26, on Thursday for violence on a person 65 or older, according to jail records. The claimed incident occurred at a home around Southwest 9th Street and Southwest 4th Avenue. Videos recorded the alleged attack and deputies arresting Diago. He was eventually placed in jail. According to an arrest record, the victim discovered a tiny puppy in front of her house that she knew belonged to Diago and proceeded to his trailer.
She claimed he shoved her to the ground and began ranting at her for no apparent reason before striking her in the face and all over her body, according to the complaint.
He also dragged her by her hair, smashed her face against the pavement, and threatened to murder her, according to the complaint. According to the allegation, Diago grabbed up a rock and attempted to beat her with it before biting her on the hand and breaking her skin. He then attempted to put her head into a puddle of water. When those who had heard the victim screaming arrived, Diago fled inside his trailer, according to the report. He was eventually put into custody.
