The US Department of Education honored several South Florida schools this week as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Five Miami-Dade County schools and one Broward County public school were among the 15 in Florida to get the prestigious accolade.
The schools are recognized in two categories: Exemplary High Performing Schools, which are top performers in state assessments or nationally normed tests, and Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools, which excel at closing achievement gaps between student groups and the entire student body. The following South Florida schools are 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools and were designated as Exemplary High-Performing Schools:
George Washington Carver Middle School, Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County Public Schools:
This magnet school welcomes international pupils and provides education in French, German, Italian, and Spanish, as well as several STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Arts, and Music) lectures and projects.
