After leaving Marco Island’s Rose Marina and making his way between Sanibel and Stump Pass, the boater went missing on Monday.
Bert Erwin, 70, was last seen leaving Rose Marina. Air and surface personnel are presently looking for him.
Indian Rocks Beach was supposedly Erwin’s last destination, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast.
Authorities said Erwin was nowhere to be seen, but his yacht was discovered 28 miles off the coast of Englewood.
Many who know him on Facebook said he is a very skilled commercial fisherman.
Boaters at Indian Rocks Beach, who are close to Hubbard’s Marina, said they are watching him.
