Police investigate swatting calls that targeted South Florida malls

Authorities in South Florida announced that they are investigating swatting calls that were made during the weekend specifically targeting malls.

Due to an apparent threat from a caller, Town Centre in Boca Raton was evacuated on Saturday, according to police.

Later, Boca Raton Police confirmed that no suspicious objects were discovered in the area and stated that the threat was made during a swatting call.

Miami-Dade Police told NBC6 on Sunday that they had received yet another report of swatting. about Dadeland Mall this time.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday night, a man was also taken into custody and interrogated by the Broward Sheriff’s Office regarding a potential bomb threat. Investigators claimed it was baseless.
