The unsolved murder of a 6-year-old beauty queen nearly 30 years ago made headlines again Tuesday, as the child’s father revealed that DNA evidence in the case was never examined.
JonBenét Ramsey’s father, John Ramsey, spoke exclusively to the new television series “True Crime News,” stating that he wants justice for his daughter. “We’ve had unidentified male DNA since January 1997,” he informed the show’s host, Ana Garcia, adding that the DNA was located on a weapon.
“To my knowledge, it still hasn’t been tested,” said the man. “If they’re testing it and not telling me, that’s great, but I have no reason to believe that.” During the interview, Ramsey disclosed that seven DNA samples were sent to a lab for testing but returned untested.
According to the report, the goods include a garrote that was used to strangle the girl. “I don’t know why they didn’t test it initially,” John Ramsey told Garcia.
JonBenét Ramsey was discovered dead in her family’s Colorado home on December 26, 1996. She had been sexually abused and beaten before being strangled to death. While John Mark Karr admitted to killing JonBenét Ramsey, he was not charged. The individual or people who caused her death were never found.
