BSO detectives say they are looking into the suspected threat. They issued a statement which reads in part:

This afternoon, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Threat Management Unit (TMU) received information about a post on a social networking app containing a potential threat to many schools in several communities throughout Broward County. BSO’s TMU and Real Time Crime Center detectives are collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to investigate the potential threat.”

On Thursday night, police claimed an online bomb threat was made against the school, situated at 1400 NW 44th Ave., via Instagram. “I wasn’t even sure if I should come to school. “I thought my life was in danger, but I had no choice,” explained student Mierre Smith. “It happens all over the place every year—someone lies about a bomb threat to get people’s attention,” said student Mekhi Johnson. “It gets tired and is lame.” “I’m tired of it.” However, it appears that each threat comes after the other. “A lot of people aren’t going to school because they’re afraid they won’t be able to return,” student A’mia Anglin explained.

Someone made an internet threat against Lamar Louise Curry Middle School, which is located at 15750 SW 47th St. in Southwest Miami-Dade, according to Miami-Dade Schools Police. “After what we’ve been through with the Parkland shooting, we need to make sure that our kids do stay safe,” said Kevin Smith, an employee at Coconut Creek High. Police said the person who threatened Lamar Louise Curry Middle School was apprehended on Friday. Earlier this week, an 11-year-old kid was arrested and charged with making a false bomb threat at Somerset Academy in Deerfield Beach, prompting pupils to flee.

The child appeared in juvenile court on Thursday and was placed under home arrest. “The FBI should be able to identify these people before it gets to the school,” according to Smith. “If you’re doing things, you should stop. “It’s not good, and you’re endangering many lives,” Anglin stated.
