Among the latter group, recipients typically receive payments categorized under Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

The precise amount each beneficiary receives hinges on several factors, including their work history, earnings, and contributions to Social Security over the years. Additionally, the age at which a worker opts for retirement plays a pivotal role in determining the payout.
In the fiscal landscape of 2024, the SSA projects an average payment of $1,907 for individual retirees and $3,303 for couples filing jointly. Meanwhile, SSI beneficiaries can anticipate an average payment of $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples filing jointly.
The distribution dates for these payments are intricately linked to the beneficiaries’ dates of birth. Beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th of any given month can expect their payments on the second Wednesday.
Those born between the 11th and the 20th receive their payments on the third Wednesday, while individuals born from the 21st to the 31st will receive theirs on the last Wednesday of the month.

However, there are exceptions to this schedule. Retirees who commenced their retirement before May 1997, as well as SSI beneficiaries, receive their payments on the first day of the month, regardless of their date of birth.

- 11th-20th: Third Wednesday of the month
