The early morning calm of a Los Angeles neighborhood was shattered on Thursday as a seemingly routine fire call escalated into a harrowing ordeal.
Nine firefighters, responding to a blaze engulfing a semi-truck, found themselves facing an unforgiving enemy: compressed natural gas (CNG).

Within six minutes of arrival, disaster struck. One of the truck’s two 100-gallon CNG tanks erupted in a fiery explosion, sending shockwaves through the scene and injuring all but one of the responding firefighters.
