Acclaimed country music artist Chris Young was arrested on Monday night at a popular bar in Nashville.
The ‘I’m Comin’ Over’ singer is now facing a trio of charges – disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer – in the wake of an incident involving the Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC).
Country Star Chris Young’s Bar Encounter
Young, 38, is set to make a court appearance on February 16 to address the charges that have been levied against him, adding a layer of complexity to his otherwise illustrious career.
The episode transpired when agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Commission initiated a compliance check at the Tin Roof bar around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, as detailed in the arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.
Agents approached Young, who was holding his ID card aloft for age verification purposes. Once his age was confirmed, the agents returned the ID to Young, who, in turn, began inquiring and recording the encounter.
Upon concluding the compliance check, the agents proceeded to another bar for further checks. Intriguingly, Young and a group of individuals followed the agents to the Dawg House, an adjacent bar.
It was during Young’s attempted departure from the venue that an agent alleged he blocked the exit with his arm and physically struck him. Subsequently, the agent claimed to have pushed Young to create distance, leading to the involvement of other bar patrons.
The arrest unfolded as Young allegedly became increasingly confrontational, prompting agents to physically detain him with handcuffs.
The ABC affidavit reported that “Mr. Young’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, as well as having blurred speech.” The arrest became further complicated as associates of Young reportedly contributed to the hostility during the incident.
