BlendJet, a famous manufacturer of portable blenders, recalls approximately 4.8 million units of its BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders due to serious safety concerns, including laceration and fire hazards.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a notice outlining the risks associated with these blenders, which can overheat, catch fire, and experience blade breakage during use.
Assurance in Response to Blender Hazards
This alarming announcement follows numerous reports of injuries, property damage, and safety incidents related to the product.
According to the CPSC, there have been 329 reports of blades breaking during use, 17 reports of overheating or fires resulting in $150,000 of property damage claims, 49 reports of minor burn injuries, and one reported laceration injury associated with BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders.
The severity and frequency of these incidents prompted federal regulators to advise consumers to cease using the recalled blenders immediately.
BlendJet is offering a free base unit replacement for affected consumers. To initiate the replacement process, customers must stop using the blender, remove and cut up the base’s rubber seal, and submit a photo through BlendJet’s website or via email.
The company assures consumers that BlendJet 2 blenders are now available for purchase through their website, and retail partners have updated components and are not subject to the recall.
In response to the recall, BlendJet issued a prepared statement acknowledging the safety concerns and emphasizing the company’s commitment to consumer well-being.
The company explained that the recall specifically impacts older BlendJet 2 blenders and reassured customers that the updated BlendJet 2 devices feature thicker blades and an improved electrical configuration to mitigate potential hazards.
