Marjorie Taylor Greene Faces Eighth ‘Swatting’ Episode, Even on Christmas

Controversial Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene finds herself at the center of yet another swatting incident, as local police officers arrived at her residence in Rome, Georgia, on Christmas Day.

This marks the eighth reported occurrence of such incidents, which Ms. Greene attributes to left-wing activists staging false emergencies that prompt armed law enforcement responses.

A Festive Celebration Disrupted

On Monday, Ms. Greene took to social media to share her frustration, revealing that she had been “swatted” once again. Despite the festive occasion and the presence of her family, local police responded to a call that prompted them to visit her home.

Expressing gratitude for the local police force, Ms. Greene condemned the recurring incidents that have disrupted her household.

“Swatting” involves making a fake emergency call to 911 operators, resulting in the dispatch of heavily armed and armored law enforcement teams. This dangerous prank or form of harassment puts both the targeted individual and law enforcement at risk, as responders are often led to believe they are handling a critical situation.

The Rome Police Department later confirmed the incident, shedding light on the nature of the fake emergency call. A person from Rome, New York, reportedly called a suicide hotline, falsely claiming to have shot his girlfriend at Ms. Greene’s address and threatening self-harm.

The police contacted Ms. Greene’s local security liaison, who decided that officers did not need to respond, and the police response was subsequently canceled.

Controversial Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene finds herself at the center of yet another “swatting” incident, as local police officers arrived at her residence in Rome, Georgia, on Christmas Day.

This is not the first time Marjorie Taylor Greene has faced such incidents. In October of the previous year, she condemned similar swatting attacks that occurred in quick succession. In August 2022, the Rome Police Department responded to a false call reporting a shooting at Ms. Greene’s residence.

The congresswoman reassured officers that there was no issue, and the incident was determined to be a “swatting” episode.

In response to the August incident, Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed in an interview that she typically answers her door armed with a gun. This latest episode highlights the ongoing challenges she faces in navigating security concerns and potential threats, even during the holiday season.

The repeated swatting incidents targeting Marjorie Taylor Greene underscore the broader challenges faced by public figures dealing with harassment and false emergencies.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on enhancing security measures to protect individuals like Ms. Greene from such dangerous pranks and ensuring the safety of both law enforcement and those who serve in public office.
