Manhunt Underway: Texas Prisoner Serving Life for Child Abuse Escapes Custody

Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) reported on Sunday that a man serving a life sentence for child sex abuse managed to escape from prison. 

The escapee, identified as Robert Yancy, Jr., aged 39, was last seen at approximately 3:38 p.m. at the Clemens Unit in Brazoria, Texas.

Public Urged to Stay Vigilant

Authorities are now actively searching for Yancy, urging the public to be vigilant and report any sightings. The TDCJ shared crucial details about the escapee, indicating that Yancy was driving a 2021 white Nissan Versa with the license plate DNR9145.

At the time of his escape, he was wearing a black beanie and a black sweater.

Yancy’s escape raises severe concerns about the security measures in place at the prison facility and the potential risks posed to the community. The TDCJ has issued a public appeal, asking individuals to contact authorities immediately and to avoid any direct contact with Yancy if spotted.
