Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is back in the legal news after a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal filed a complaint claiming that in 1991, Combs drugged and sexually abused her.
This follows closely on the heels of a recent settlement in a sexual assault suit brought by R&B singer and former partner Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura.
Lawsuit Unveils Disturbing Account of Assault
The lawsuit, obtained by the BBC, details the plaintiff’s account of the assault, claiming it occurred during a date with the rapper. Dickerson-Neal, who had known Combs through acquaintances and had appeared in one of his music videos, alleges that on January 3, 1991, she reluctantly agreed to meet Combs at a Harlem restaurant where she worked.
According to the complaint, Combs then drugged her, rendering her physically incapacitated and later sexually assaulted her at his residence.
Furthermore, the lawsuit asserts that Combs secretly filmed the encounter and showed it to multiple people. Dickerson-Neal describes the aftermath of the alleged assault, stating that her life spiraled into a tailspin, affecting her mental health and leading to her withdrawal from college.
A spokesperson for Combs dismissed the allegations, labeling them as a ‘money grab’ and asserting that they are made up and not credible.
The representative stated, “This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned on its head. Ms. Dickerson’s 32-year-old story is made up and not credible.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Faces Another Sexual Assault Lawsuit
The lawsuit was filed just hours before the expiration of the New York Adult Survivors Act, allowing alleged victims of sex crimes to sue even after the statute of limitations has lapsed.
Dickerson-Neal’s lawyers emphasized that the legal action provides an opportunity for their client to seek justice and address the enduring impact of the harm caused by Combs many years ago.
This marks the second sexual assault lawsuit against Combs in November, with the first brought by Cassie Ventura. Ventura accused the music mogul of rape and sex trafficking over a decade, starting when she was 19 and he was 37.
The two parties reached a settlement shortly after the lawsuit was filed, with Combs denying the claims and asserting that the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing.
