Russian Military Suffers Major Setback: 6,000 Troops Lost in a Week Due to Ukraine’s Intensified Attacks

In a grim update from the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, it was revealed that Russia has lost 6,030 soldiers in Ukraine during the past week.

This distressing figure adds to the mounting human cost of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

Grim Toll on Russian Troops

Since the conflict’s onset, Russia has suffered a staggering total of 305,970 troop losses, with 880 casualties recorded in just the past day. These sobering statistics signify a heavy toll on Russian forces.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a think tank monitoring the conflict, reported that Ukrainian forces have intensified their strikes on Russian positions in southern Ukraine and occupied Crimea. Notably, they attempted a drone strike at an oil refinery railway in Dzhankoi, Crimea, and conducted a Storm Shadow missile strike on Berdyansk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Ukraine’s military efforts are not limited to these areas, as they continue offensive missions near Bakhmut in the Donetsk Oblast and make confirmed gains in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the east bank of Kherson Oblast. Geolocated footage cited by ISW also reveals that Ukrainian forces are expanding their foothold on the Russian-controlled bank of the Dnieper River in southern Ukraine.

In a grim update from the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, it was revealed that Russia has lost 6,030 soldiers in Ukraine during the past week.

One of the fiercest battlegrounds remains Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast, where Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military has committed significant resources. However, Kyiv reported that despite the heavy fighting, Putin’s forces have sustained substantial losses in their attempts to capture the city.

The 47th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine revealed that nearly 7,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in Avdiivka during the past three weeks of fighting, alongside the loss of 100 tanks and 250 other armored vehicles.

In a Telegram post, the brigade stated, “Russian occupiers are unable to surround Avdiivka thanks to the actions of our defenders.” This message underscores the resilience of Ukrainian forces in the face of immense adversity.

As the conflict continues to evolve, it is clear that Ukraine’s determination to defend its sovereignty remains unwavering, and the human cost to Russia’s military is steadily rising.

The ongoing struggle in Ukraine serves as a stark reminder of the profound sacrifices made by those caught in the crossfire of geopolitical conflict.
