Former President Donald Trump reiterated his support for his immigration policies, particularly the ban on immigrants from Muslim-majority countries, during a rally in Clive, Iowa.
Trump underlined the implementation of strict ideological screening for all immigrants and promised to broaden this policy if he were to win re-election to the White House.
Trump’s Call for Reinforced Travel Restrictions
Trump emphasized the success of the prior travel restriction, claiming that it improved national security by limiting access from terrorist-affiliated nations. He argued for the reinstatement of the travel restriction and its extension to cover more nations that pose security risks, including Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and Syria.
In connection with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Trump used the war as justification for an expanded ban on immigration. He stated that anyone demonstrating against Israel, supporting Hamas or its ideology, or aligning with certain political ideologies would be disqualified from entering the United States
Furthermore, Trump expressed opposition to the acceptance of refugees from Gaza and proposed the aggressive deportation of resident aliens with jihadist sympathies.

Accusations of Advancing the Muslim Ban
Democrats immediately condemned Trump for his divisive speech and accused him of using these words to advance his Muslim ban. They also accused him of using fear and worry to advance his agenda.
The Democratic National Committee linked Trump’s comments to Islamophobia and pointed out the impact of such rhetoric on communities, particularly in light of recent tragic events.
It’s important to note that Trump’s travel ban, initially implemented in 2017 and targeting seven Muslim-majority countries, faced condemnation from human rights groups for its perceived inhumanity and discrimination.
President Joe Biden reversed this policy after taking office, but its effects continue to be felt by affected families even after its revocation.
