New York Police Launch Urgent Search for 9-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped from Campground

A large-scale search began for 9-year-old Charlotte Sena during a family camping trip in upstate New York, utilizing modern technology and a sizable team.

The young girl was last seen riding her bicycle at Moreau Lake State Park, about 35 miles north of Albany, on a Saturday evening.

New York Swift Response with Advanced Tools

The authorities quickly mobilized and utilized a combination of drones, bloodhounds, and an airboat to assist in the search efforts.

The search began after Charlotte decided to take an additional loop around the park by herself and did not return as expected, causing worry for her parents. After 15 minutes without contact, her parents alerted the authorities.

A vital lead emerged when Charlotte’s bicycle was discovered at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, prompting the deployment of over 100 searchers, including law enforcement, forest rangers, and concerned civilians. An Amber Alert was issued on Sunday morning, given the possibility of an abduction.

Community Unites in the Search for Charlotte

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Mazzone of the state police stressed the critical nature of the situation, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive and thorough search operation. 

Additionally, the Amber Alert was instrumental in the search as it included a detailed description of Charlotte, outlining her physical characteristics and attire. This information played a crucial role in assisting search teams in their efforts to locate her.

Governor Kathy Hochul expressed the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that every possible effort was being made to find the missing girl. 

Charlotte was described as a joyful young girl who had recently been elected a class officer for the student council. The community rallied together, leaving no stone unturned in the quest to reunite Charlotte with her family.

The collective search efforts showcase the power of coordination, technology, and community involvement in responding to such critical situations, underscoring the determination to bring Charlotte home safe and sound.
