Alissa McCommon, a 38-year-old elementary school teacher and mother of two from Covington, Tennessee, is facing severe child rape allegations.
According to law enforcement authorities, the accusations against her involve inappropriate communication with former students via online video games and social media platforms, including sending indecent photographs and soliciting sexual relationships with the victims.
Police Chief Addresses Ongoing McCommon Investigation
Chief of Police for the city of Covington, Donna Turner, issued a statement expressing the gravity of the situation and stating that detectives are assiduously investigating the disquieting allegations.
The purpose of the investigation is not only to hold McCommon accountable but also to determine the involvement of other adults who may have been aware of the abuse or helped facilitate the unlawful acts.
The cooperation of Tipton County School officials with the ongoing investigation has been recognized and valued.
The investigation was initiated when the Covington Police Department received information from the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) indicating that McCommon had allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a male student of adolescent age.
The victim, 12 years old at the time, disclosed in an affidavit that McCommon sexually assaulted him during an overnight stay at her home in 2021.
Chief Turner reaffirmed the department’s commitment to aggressively prosecute the case and offer unwavering support to the victims and their families at every investigation stage. McCommon is detained on a $25,000 bond at the Tipton County Jail.
Authorities have emphasized that there is no evidence that McCommon’s alleged offenses took place on school grounds.
The Covington Police Department requests that any potential victims who may have had contact with McCommon come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

Tipton County Schools Director Addresses McCommon Suspension
The director of schools for Tipton County, Dr. John Combs, informed The Covington Ledger that McCommon was suspended without pay on August 24 after a parent reported alleged misconduct against the teacher that morning.
The school district is actively assisting law enforcement and is awaiting additional information from authorities and the District Attorney’s office.
