Triple Health Threat: COVID-19, Influenza, and Strep Throat Trigger Nationwide Closures

Due to concurrent COVID-19, influenza, and strep throat outbreaks, the Lee County School District in Kentucky has postponed in-person classes through the end of this week, according to Maia Pandey of NBC News. 

The coronavirus has returned, and other areas are adjusting their timetables as a result.

Mask Requirements Return Due to COVID-19 Surge

Since a few weeks ago, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased, and according to health officials, three new variations are spreading rapidly.

 As a result, several companies and other organizations are once more enforcing the use of masks, which have been proven to be an efficient method for controlling the virus’s transmission.

Cities and governments have universally abandoned mask regulations, much like vaccination requirements, as COVID rates have decreased since their high in 2022.

According to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, New York State, for instance, eliminated a rule that face coverings be worn even in health care settings in February after most other local businesses had previously mixed regulations voluntarily. 

This week, Morris Brown College in Atlanta made the decision to reinstate its two-week mask requirement because of an increase in COVID cases among students. 

According to a statement from college president Dr. Kevin James, masks were a requirement for all employees and students as of Tuesday.

The college is also restricting the scale of events, including parties, and resuming its investigation into diseases.

COVID-19 Variants Lead to Surge in Georgia Hospitalizations

According to the most recent CDC data, COVID-19 hospitalizations have increased 30% in Georgia, with the spread of novel variations being the primary cause.

Movie studio Lionsgate is reintroducing the in-office mask requirement at its Santa Monica offices in California as cases of the illness increase in Los Angeles, Deadline first reported. 

According to Lionsgate, several staff recently tested positive for COVID-19. Those who are experiencing symptoms or have just returned from an international trip are encouraged to stay at home and inform the company’s response manager.
