A remarkable discovery has been made by researchers exploring an ancient underwater volcano off the Pacific coast of Canada.

These eggs, measuring about 1.5 feet (0.5 meters) in size, numbered in the thousands, if not more.
The researchers captured footage of the Pacific white skate laying eggs for the first time, shedding light on the breeding behavior of this little-known species.
Pacific white skates are deep-dwelling creatures related to sharks and rays, found at depths between 2,600 and 9,500 feet (800 to 2,900 meters) off the western coast of North and Central America.
The rectangular eggs, resembling mermaid purses, are laid by adult females, and the warm waters surrounding the volcano likely expedite the gestation period, leading to higher chances of successful juvenile development.
