SNAP Replacement Benefits Granted For Storm-Related Food Loss

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants living in twelve counties across Texas are now eligible for assistance thanks to recent federal approval secured by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

With this decision, people who had their food destroyed or lost due to severe storms between June 14 and June 16 are now eligible to apply for replacement compensation.

SNAP Benefits For Texas Residents After Storms

Texas residents who are SNAP-eligible and have experienced food loss or destruction as a result of the powerful storms can easily receive replacement food benefits using one of two accessible options.

The first way involves calling the helpline number 2-1-1 and choosing option 8. By selecting this choice, SNAP users can get in touch with the relevant HHSC agents, who will assist them in receiving replacement benefits.

As an alternative, qualified people can access and download Form H1855 from the official HHSC website.

To start the process of getting replacement food benefits, fill out and send the Affidavit for Nonreceipt or Destroyed SNAP Benefits form to the HHSC

On the HHSC website, you may find comprehensive instructions on how to correctly complete the form and where to send it.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission wants to lessen the challenges endured by SNAP recipients impacted by the severe storms by providing these channels for aid.

Helping Texans Recover Through Food Assistance

Even after a natural disaster, these replacement benefits will make it possible for people and families to get the food and shelter they need.

The HHSC is still dedicated to helping Texans in need and assisting in the healing process in trying times.

About 1.6 million eligible low-income families and individuals in Texas get food assistance through the federal program SNAP, which is administered by HHSC.
