In the wake of an extraordinary failed mutiny led by Russian mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, questions have arisen about President Putin’s hold on power. 

As Ukraine launches a counteroffensive in its southern and eastern regions, former comedian turned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky engaged in phone calls with several world leaders to discuss the escalating situation.

Following a conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden, Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that they had discussed the ongoing hostilities and the internal dynamics within Russia. In a strong plea, Zelensky emphasized the need for global pressure on Russia until international order is restored.

Furthermore, the leaders delved into the possibilities of broadening defense collaboration, specifically focusing on advancements in long-range weaponry. Additionally, they discussed the coordination of their endeavors in anticipation of the forthcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, along with deliberations concerning a Global Peace Summit that Volodymyr Zelensky has been actively promoting.

In a statement issued by Zelensky’s office, he remarked that the recent events had exposed the vulnerabilities of Putin’s regime. This sentiment was echoed in similar statements made during phone calls with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Polish President Andrzej Duda. 

Zelensky highlighted the threatening situation at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, currently under Russian occupation. He expressed concerns that Russia might contemplate an act of terrorism involving the release of radiation, an accusation firmly denied by the Russian authorities.

Seeking resolute support from Ukraine’s partners, Zelensky stressed the importance of a principled response, particularly at the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius. 

Amid escalating tensions, these phone calls played a vital role in Zelenskiy’s diplomatic efforts to secure international support in response to Russia’s aggressive actions.
