Presidential Visit: President Joe Biden to Grace Chicago with His Presence Later this Month

The White House announced on Tuesday that President Joe Biden will visit Chicago on June 28. He will be going to the city he supported to host the Democratic National Convention when he is nominated for reelection next year.

There were no further specifics about the presidential visit, but Politico had previously reported that Biden planned to perform significant reelection fundraising events before the month’s end, which also marks the conclusion of the federal government’s second-quarter fundraising cycle.

Joe Biden Focused on Reelection and Democratic National Convention

Rich Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker has endorsed Biden for reelection and played a big role in Chicago securing the bid to host the Democratic National Convention while also indicating interest in running for president in the future.

Since 1996, there hasn’t been a political convention held in Chicago. Pritzker added that there will be no debt incurred for the event by the Democratic National Committee.

In addition to Pritzker’s wealth and his work as a notable national Democratic fundraiser, the city has historically served as an ATM for significant political candidates for both parties, despite the state’s and city’s general Democratic leanings.

The Pritzker fundraiser, which is anticipated to draw the largest Democratic donors in the Chicago area, will improve the president’s fundraising totals when they are made public in the middle of July.

Pritzker and a few of these same donors are anticipated to provide financial support for the Democratic National Convention that Chicago will host in August 2024.

The Democratic National Committee received an $84.697 million guarantee from the host group, Development Now for Chicago, as part of its bid. Pritzker has offered the host committee significant assistance in fundraising.

The White House announced on Tuesday that President Joseph Biden will visit Chicago on June 28.

The Biden Victory Fund will profit from the dinner, which Pritzker was asked to organize by the White House.

The Democratic National Committee, a number of state Democratic parties, including the one in Illinois, and Biden for President all gave their approval to the joint fundraising committee.

While in Chicago on Tuesday, Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison presided over the 119th annual membership gathering of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

He praised the positive economic effects the convention will have on the area, saying that the 50,000 attendees will be purchasing products here in Chicago.

Also, the White House disclosed that Biden will visit the San Francisco region from June 19 to June 23.

California has a strong Democratic donor base, and current representative and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calls San Francisco home.
