Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida and prospective presidential candidate, slammed the US military in a Memorial Day interview for what he believes to be the introduction of “woke” political beliefs.
He voiced worry about the programs that promote diversity, the emphasis on gender pronouns, the effects on hiring, and employee morale.
Ron DeSantis expressed concern
DeSantis, a former Navy lieutenant who served in Guantanamo Bay and Iraq, thinks it’s essential to get back to the fundamental goals and sense of purpose that drew individuals into the armed forces.
He served in the US Navy Reserve until 2019, having been honorably discharged from active duty in 2010.
If elected president, he promised to make big reforms to boost morale.
DeSantis also considered how the 9/11 attacks affected him and motivated him to enlist in the military.
Along with veterans, he observed Memorial Day in Jacksonville, Florida.
DeSantis formally declared his candidacy last week and is currently trailing GOP front-runner and former ally Donald Trump, 76, by more than 30 points in the polls. Trump is running for two non-consecutive terms as president amidst a flurry of criminal investigations and charges.

Laura Loomer Questions Casey DeSantis’s Cancer Battle
Meanwhile, Laura Loomer, a supporter of Donald Trump well-known for her far-right and anti-Muslim activity, has recently made remarks about Casey DeSantis, the wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, that have aroused uproar.
Controversial comments by Loomer implied that Casey DeSantis’s cancer fight had been over-exaggerated.
Loomer, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress twice before and was banned from Twitter in 2018 for hateful behaviour, alleged that Governor DeSantis had exaggerated his wife’s cancer battle in an effort to win over voters.
These remarks have drawn criticism and condemnation from various quarters.
Furthermore, Loomer went on to call for the release of Casey DeSantis’s medical records in order to substantiate her claim that she is not being exploited as a mere campaign prop for her husband’s political aspirations.
This demand for private medical information has raised concerns about privacy and ethical boundaries.
