Rise Up Cambridge: The latest stimulus check update indicates that applications for monthly direct payments worth $500 will be open soon

The Rise Up Cambridge program will provide recipients with monthly payments of $500 as part of a guaranteed income initiative.

Rise Up Cambridge is a newly established guaranteed income program, funded by a $22 million commitment from Cambridge, Massachusetts. 

Who is Eligible for Rise Up Cambridge Program?

Applicants selected for the Rise Up Cambridge program will receive monthly payments totaling $9,000 over an 18-month period. 

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be 18 years or older and reside in Cambridge. The applicant’s household must also have at least one person under the age of 21 and an income at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.

The eligibility criteria for the program depend on the number of people living in the household. For instance, households with two members are eligible if their annual income is $49,300 or less, while households with three members can qualify if their annual income is no more than $62,150.

The income limit increases gradually with the addition of every household member.

  • $49,300 for a two-person family
  • $62,150 for a family of three
  • $75,000 for a family of four
  • $87,850 for a family of five

Applicants must also be at least 18 years old.

How to Apply?

The Rise Up Cambridge program will provide recipients with monthly payments of $500 as part of a guaranteed income initiative.

 

To be considered for the program, applicants must submit their application online through a portal that will be open from June 1 to July 31. 

Upon completion, applicants will receive a confirmation text or email with a link to check their application status. The city plans to begin initial payments on June 30. 

Participants who meet the eligibility requirements are not required to report the payments as taxable income. The program is expected to benefit approximately 2,000 people.
