NYPD captain accused of sending explicit photos and soliciting panties from female detective

A relentless NYPD captain sent a married detective penis pictures and asked for her panties, promising work perks if she played along, according to new court papers.

Det. Michelle Almanzar of the Bronx’s 50th Precinct filed a lawsuit against her captain, Brian Flynn, on Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleging that Flynn harassed and retaliated against her for 18 months after she rejected his advances.

NYPD Captain Flynn’s Texting Habits

According to Almanzar’s attorney Leslee Schwartz’s statement, the Manhattan NYPD captain constantly texted her. He made clear that he would not tolerate it if she blocked his number.

The lawsuit claims that after Flynn, a married father, was transferred to the 50th Precinct in 2021, he began sending Almanzar texts and verbal sex suggestions along with pictures of his penis that appeared to have been taken in his office.

According to court documents, he requested racy photos of her and indicated he would trade work perks as long as she continued to permit his advances. Almanzar allegedly attempted to block Flynn’s number multiple times, but each time “reacted negatively” by requiring her to stay late to redo reports or denying her request for a day off.

According to the lawsuit, Alamanzar was so afraid of Flynn’s harassment that she avoided speaking with him alone and refused to use the restroom alone because it was near his office.

The lawsuit alleges that Flynn posted pictures of a rat in a costume with her name around the office after Almanzar blocked Flynn’s number from her phone to demonstrate who was in charge.

Schwartz stated that things came to a head when Almanzar requested a day off following the death of her grandmother.

Consequently, Flynn was transferred to a different precinct.

The suit claims that he waited for Almanzar at the precinct at 4 a.m. on the day following his transfer.

Despite knowing that Flynn is being investigated for claims unrelated to the harassment, the NYPD “took no action to ensure that defendant Flynn does not harass other female employees,” as stated in the lawsuit.

The NYPD will not comment on pending litigation, according to a spokesperson for the department.

The Department is committed to providing a harassment-free workplace for all employees and stands firmly against any form of discrimination or harassment in the workplace.

The NYPD takes all complaints seriously and offers officers several ways to report them, including the ability to remain anonymous. There was no number found for Flynn.
