Police in Texas are literally leaving no stone unturned in their search for Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, age 6.
On Monday, law enforcement removed an unpermitted and suspicious concrete patio behind the boy’s Everman, Texas, residence, which consisted of a filthy shed where he lived with his mother, stepfather, and six siblings.
Texas missing person case becomes death investigation
During Monday’s 20-hour operation, cadaver dogs detected the scent of human remains in the soil beneath the concrete slab, according to police. This has led investigators to believe that, prior to the installation of the patio, human remains were contained within the shed,” Everman Police said in a statement.
Noel has not been seen alive since mid-October, and appeared “unhealthy and malnourished,” police said last week. A missing person case was not opened until Texas child protective services requested a welfare check on March 20 for Noel and his six siblings living in the home.
Spencer announced at a press conference on April 6 that police canceled the missing and endangered persons alert for Noel and shifted to a death investigation.
Noel, who has special needs, disappeared shortly before his mother gave birth to twins, and she allegedly called him “evil” and “possessed” and told police she was afraid he would hurt the babies.
Suspicious Behavior
According to additional witnesses, Noel was frequently denied food and water because Cindy disliked changing his soiled diapers.
Investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies have uncovered puzzle pieces over the past month, but they do not know how they all fit together.
On November 1 and 2, Rodriguez-Singh reportedly obtained passport photographs and submitted passport applications for all of her children except Noel.
Tuesday, police announced that investigators had recovered a large carpet that Noel’s stepfather had discarded. A previous search of the cramped, dilapidated shack that Noel called home uncovered an altar to Santa Muerte, the patron saint of death.
According to Everman Police, detectives disproved Rodriguez-claim Singh’s that Noel was with family in Mexico during a welfare check on 20 March.
On March 22, Rodriguez-Singh and Noel’s stepfather Arsdeep Singh boarded an international flight with six children aged between five months and eleven years old, but Noel was not among them, according to police.
For their arrest, felony child endangerment warrants were issued. The authorities believe the couple is in India.
No evidence supports the rumor that Noel’s mother sold him at a Fiesta Market store, according to the Everman Police Department.
