To celebrate the opening of the Tesla Gigafactory in Germany, Elon Musk is selling beers for over $30

European customers who have pre-ordered a Tesla Cybertruck can now consume a beer that resembles the vehicle.

Tesla’s ‘GigaBier’ went on sale online on Thursday, available in packs of three costing £79, the equivalent of around £26.3 per beer ($32.85).

Each 330ml (11oz) bottle has hints of Italian bergamot citrus and sweet fruit and is packaged in a sleek black metal case with a glowing Giga logo.

To promote Tesla’s as-yet-uncompleted ‘Gigafactory’ in Brandenburg, Germany, the beer was first announced 17 months ago.

The goal of the design, according to Tesla, was to respect the 500-year tradition of German Reinheitsgebot beermaking while emulating the form of Cybertruck.

Each of the three GigaBiers in a pack costs more than $30, which is more than the cost of thirty-three cans of Budweiser combined.

There are about 11 ounces of beer in each bottle, which is 1 ounce less than the typical 12-ounce can of US lager.

Since 2016, when Musk originally predicted its completion by 2017, Tesla’s Gigafactory has been plagued by delays.

Last week, Tesla boasted on Twitter, “Brewed for cyborgs, made by humans.”

Following the launch of Tesla Tequila in 2020, the pilsner is not Tesla’s first entry into the niche, novelty spirits market.

The company’s tequila bottles shaped like bolts of lightning sold well enough to warrant a second production run in 2021.
