Canada’s ‘crypto king’ kidnapped and tortured for a $3 million ransom

A self-proclaimed “crypto king” was allegedly kidnapped and tortured for days by attackers wanting a multi-million dollar ransom.

Aiden Pleterski, 23, of Ontario, Canada, was kidnapped in December and held prisoner by kidnappers wanting at least $3 million, according to his father and associates, according to CTV News Toronto.

$2.1 Million Ransom For Canada’s ‘Crypto King’

Only $1.6 million has been returned, according to sources, with most of it spent on a private jet, a large fleet of flashy cars, and luxury vacations. Pleterski was kidnapped in the middle of the night in December and imprisoned for three days, according to Pleterski’s father in a government report explaining what happened to the cash.

Adam Peters stated he received a late-night call demanding a ransom of $3 million Canadian ($2.1 million USD). Peters then asserts that his son was allegedly released after a few days, but he was warned that he needed to come up with the money immediately or else.

No suspects have been identified in the kidnapping, and Toronto police have not provided any details about the alleged kidnapper or whether any arrests have been made.  According to attorney Norman Groot, who was recruited by some of those duped by the crypto king, the $29 million may be just the beginning of what Pleterski owes investors.

A self-proclaimed “crypto king” was allegedly kidnapped and tortured for days by attackers wanting a multi-million dollar ransom.

Authorities confiscated five premium automobiles in September, including two McLarens, two BMWs, and a Lamborghini.

Pleterski owned 11 automobiles and rented four others, according to court documents. He rented a lakefront property in Burlington, Ontario for $45,000 per month and apparently flew on private jets.

Gary Caplan, the Pleterski parents’ lawyer, told the outlet that he couldn’t comment on the case but pointed to an agreement between the Pleterski parents and the trustee. Pleterski’s parents have agreed to hand over two vehicles worth more than £80,000 to the trustee, as well as pay 500,000 on or before June 30.
