Israel West Bank: 6 Palestinian suspects were slain, including a suspected Hamas gunman

On Tuesday, Israeli forces staged a daylight attack in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, targeting the suspect in the murder of two Israeli Jews.

The raid resulted in the deaths of the suspect and at least five other male Palestinians, according to officials on both sides.

Israel Attacks Suspected Palestinian Terrorists

Israeli operations against alleged Palestinian terrorists, Palestinian retaliation attacks against Israelis, and Israeli settler attacks against Palestinians have formed a deadly circle.

Late in February, Hamas named Kharousha as a member and accused him of killing two Israeli Israelis in the town of Huwara. It also honored the remaining five men as fighting martyrs but did not clarify that they were organization members.

During the attack, the Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that at least eleven others were injured.

In a separate IDF operation in the West Bank city of Nablus, two sons of Kharousha were seized at the same time, according to reports. They are suspected of aiding and plotting the terror attack, the military announced, adding that they are being detained for questioning.

In the preceding twelve months, at least three daylight raids had happened. The preceding two, in Jenin and Nablus, led to the deaths of eleven Palestinians, including militants targeted by the Israel Defense Forces, persons interacting with Israeli forces, and bystanders.

In addition, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians in the hamlet overnight on Monday, the location of a violent rampage last week by dozens of settlers seeking retribution for the shooting of two Israelis while they were sitting in their car in traffic.

In response to a request for information regarding the incident, the military did not address a query regarding footage of soldiers dancing with settlers. Nor did it quickly react to Reuters’ inquiry as to whether any arrests had been made.

After two brothers were slain by a purported Palestinian shooter as they sat in their car at a nearby checkpoint, settlers destroyed dozens of vehicles and homes in Huwara last week.

On Tuesday, Israeli forces staged a daylight attack in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, targeting the suspect in the murder of two Israeli Jews.

The rampage, which was described as a pogrom by a senior Israeli commander, sparked worldwide outrage and condemnation, which was amplified when ultranationalist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is responsible for aspects of West Bank administration, stated that Huwara should be eradicated.

Overnight, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed appeals for both sides to de-escalate tensions in the West Bank, and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to bring up the violence when he arrives this week.

Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces have murdered around 65 Palestinians, including militants and civilians, while Palestinians have killed 13 Israelis and one Ukrainian lady in a series of apparently unconnected, individual attacks.
