Before Valentine’s Day, thousands of Americans will receive stimulus checks worth up to $1,050.
Since excessive inflation has put a strain on many people’s wallets, states have acted to help; as a result, governments with substantial budget surpluses have started providing residents with tax rebates or other types of financial aid.
$1,050 Relief Checks for Californians
California has been providing rebates starting at $200 and going up to $1,050 since the fall. Distributions to taxpayers are determined by their income, filing status, and dependents.
Connecticut gives awards to workers who stayed on throughout the pandemic’s peak in the interim. They are covered by the state’s Premium Pay program and range from $200 and $1,000.
Like California, Idaho will continue to offer rebates until 2023. For single filers, they are worth $300; for couples, they are worth $600.
Governor Janet Mills approved the Emergency Energy Relief Plan in January, which will send residents of Maine $450 winter checks.

Hawaii
Hawaii citizens who earned less than $100,000 in 2021, or $200,000 if filing jointly, should receive a one-time tax refund of $300. A $100 reward is available to couples making over $200,000 and to individuals making over $100,000.
However, taxpayers who filed their 2021 state tax returns between July 31 and December 31, 2022, will receive a tangible check or direct deposit up to 10 weeks after the tax agency accepts your return, whichever comes first. At the end of August, direct payments began to be sent.
Massachusetts
A refund of roughly 14% of the amount of state taxes owed is available to taxpayers. The expectation was that anyone who filed their 2021 tax return by October 17 of the prior year would receive their refund in December. Taxpayers who submitted after September 15, 2023, and up to that date, should get their payment one month after the return is filed.
New Mexico
Residents of the state can still receive refunds of $500 for single filers and $1,000 for joint filers. Residents have until May 2023 to file their 2021 income taxes and request a refund.
New Jersey
Thanks to Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters, around 2 million households in New Jersey are qualified for property tax refunds (ANCHOR).
For households with income up to $150,000 and between $150,000 and $250,000, property tax rebates will total $1,500 and $1,000, respectively. If a renter’s annual salary is up to $150,000, they will be given a $450 check. By May 2023, refunds must be received.
