China had hoped to launch the first orbital rocket powered by methane today but was unsuccessful.
Some experts believe a manufacturing issue or a problem with gasoline could have caused the failure, but no one knows for sure. China is attempting to send a rocket into orbit for the third time.

A similar result occurred the first two times around. Whether or not China will be able to master space flight and create its own space program in the future is an open question in light of this latest setback.
For the second time in the week, China’s space program has ended in defeat. A manned spaceship carrying three astronauts and a dog tragically crashed yesterday shortly after liftoff. There was likely a fault in the ship’s braking mechanism that led to the crash.
As a result of this recent tragedy, China’s national space agency chairman has resigned. He issued a statement to the press in which he held the administration responsible for launching a substandard vessel.
He added that decades of incompetent leadership at the space agency were to blame for the disaster. Because of these mishaps, China had only successfully launched one satellite into orbit before.
Despite these disappointments, China has continued to invest billions of dollars into its space program and is now preparing to launch a second space station next year.

If similar mishaps keep happening, China may have no choice but to give up its plans to become a space superpower and instead devote its resources to bettering life on Earth. It might prove devastating to China’s plans to become a technological superpower.
On the flip side, it might offer an opening for rival nations to rise to prominence in the solar system’s outer reaches. However, China has a long way to go before it can claim victory in the space race.
While China has established itself as a global lead technological leader lags significantly behind the United States in space travel. The United States has deployed several unmanned probes to the moon and Mars, despite its space program is its infancy.
However, the Chinese have only managed to send one probe to Mars thus far. Furthermore, even their most successful launch to date was only able to place one satellite into a low orbit.
