It has been revealed that the world’s first ‘artificial womb facility’ would allow you to pick your baby’s characteristics from a menu, bringing science fiction closer to reality.
A scientist has proposed the idea of human farms filled with birthing pods, which is something you might expect to see in a dystopian science fiction work like The Matrix or Brave New World.
World’s First Artificial Womb Facility
The main idea is that a child would develop in one of the “artificial wombs” rather than developing normally in the mother’s womb over the course of around nine months.
Scientist Hashem Al-Ghaili came up with the notion of EctoLife and made a movie to promote the idea of birthing pods that could develop thousands of humans outside the womb.
Premature births and C-sections, according to the film, will be a thing of the past, and the technology will benefit nations that are experiencing a “serious demographic drop.”
According to EctoLife, just one of their lab structures can produce up to 30,000 babies annually. The child inside will be monitored by a variety of sensors, with feedback sent to the parents.
For now, this is only a notion, but it might someday become true. Since there has been pushback to the “creepy” idea, it appears that many people won’t be happy if this is the future.
EctoLife was criticized by others, who said it was evidence that “the world has genuinely gone nuts” and that the “ethics and morals of this future are at the very least disturbing.” Others made the connection between EctoLife and a variety of dystopian science fiction novels that had shown but clearly had not supported similar principles, calling the entire thing “freaking scary as hell.”
There was also the famous line from Jurassic Park about scientists being “so consumed with if they could, they didn’t stop to wonder if they should.”

Creepy Glimpse Of Pregnancy In The Future
According to the scientist’s idea, you might use an app to track your baby’s development and even sing or play music for them.
There wasn’t much support for the notion, although a few people said the project’s goals of aiding countries with low birthrates and families who are having trouble getting pregnant could be helpful.
Al-Ghaili added that it might prevent the 300,000 maternal deaths that occur each year, a risk that wouldn’t exist if mothers gave birth to their children in EctoLife pods rather than the womb.
However, the majority of people were very skeptical of the idea, saying EctoLife was “playing god” and doing little to address the underlying causes of why a nation would have low birth rates.
Fortunately, this is all still only a concept at this point, and no actual lab capable of producing thousands of kids at once has been constructed, at least not yet.
