Today, Deadline announced that Jimmie Saito (Sweetbitter), Josh Wingate (Priest), and Caroline Neff (Chicago P.D.) have signed on for “heavily recurring roles” in the upcoming Showtime vampire series “Let the Right One In.
The series is based on the book Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, which was made into the 2008 Swedish movie Let the Right One In and the 2010 American movie Let Me In.
Demián Bichir (The Nun) is set to join Madison Taylor Baez, Zeljko Ivanek, Fernanda Andrade, Nick Stahl, Grace Gummer, Anika Noni Rose, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman, and Jacob Buster in the “Let the Right One In” series.
“The series version is about Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Baez), whose lives were changed forever when she became a vampire 10 years ago. Eleanor has been locked up since she was 12 years old. She can only go outside at night, and her father does his best to give her the blood she needs to stay alive.
Showtime has given the show an order for 10 episodes.
The showrunner is Andrew Hinderaker (Away), and Seith Mann (Homeland) is in charge of directing.
Tomorrow Studios is behind the project. For the past few years, they’ve been trying to get a “Let the Right One In” series off the ground, and A&E and TNT were both interested.
Let The Right One In Cast
Demián Bichir (Mark Kane)
Let the Right One Through Demián Bichir, who played Fidel Castro in Steven Soderbergh’s two-part Che Guevara biopic and joined Showtime’s Weeds cast in 2008, will play Mark, the morally ambiguous father of a vampire. Bichir is best known for his Oscar-nominated performance in 2011’s A Better Life, which was also one of his first English-language productions after playing Fidel Castro in Soderbergh’s two-part Che Guevara
The actor, who was born in Mexico, went on to star in movies like The Heat, Savages, The Hateful Eight, and Godzilla vs. Kong. He also made a name for himself on TV with shows like The Bridge on FX and Grand Hotel on ABC (both of which are also remakes). The Grudge, which came out in 2020, was his last horror remake. Before that, he starred in The Nun, part of the Conjuring Universe, in 2018 and Alien: Covenant, the sixth movie in the Alien series, in 2017.
Madison Taylor Baez (Eleanor Kane)
Eleanor, Mark’s undead, supposedly 12-year-old daughter, is played by Madison Taylor Baez. She made her acting debut as a young con artist in the seven-minute fantasy comedy The Tooth Racket in 2019, the same year she appeared in Tiffany Haddish’s reboot of Kids Say the Darndest Things.
The next year, she was cast as a young Selena Quintanilla in the Netflix show Selena, which was based on the life of the late singer. In 2021, she sang on the Fox game show Game of Talents, which was hosted by Wayne Brady. Also in 2022, Howie Mandel gave Baez the Golden Buzzer after her dream-come-true audition on America’s Got Talent, where she sang “Amazing Grace” in a beautiful way.
Anika Noni Rose (Naomi Cole)
Anika Noni Rose plays the single mom and detective Naomi Cole on HBO’s The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. This was her first regular series role after making her film debut in 2003’s “From Justin to Kelly” and getting a lot of attention in the Oscar-winning musical “Dreamgirls.”
She is also known for Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls, Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation, and the 2016 remake of the TV series Roots. However, she may be best known for her role as Tiana in Disney’s animated modern classic The Princess and the Frog, which she played again in 2018’s Ralph Breaks the Internet. Rose is also no stranger to horror. She starred in the miniseries version of Stephen King’s Bag of Bones, played a DEA agent on Bates Motel, and gave a chilling performance in one of the scariest TV shows on Amazon, Them.
Ian Foreman (Isaiah Cole)
Ian Foreman plays Isaiah, the son of Naomi and a friend of Eleanor. He made his acting debut in One TV’s original holiday movie Merry Wish-Mas in 2018. Three years later, he was in a Halloween episode of the short-lived NBC drama Ordinary Joe, which took place in many different worlds. This could be considered his “horror” debut. Let the Right One In is Foreman’s first big role on a TV show, though.
Grace Gummer (Claire Logan)
Claire Logan, a scientist who studies diseases, is the latest horror role for Grace Gummer. She has also played roles in Seasons 3 and 4 of American Horror Story, as a regular on Halle Berry’s sci-fi show Extant, and in Peacock’s original true crime miniseries Dr. Death (which I would say, counts).
She made her acting debut in the 1993 film The House of the Spirits, which sounds like a horror movie but isn’t. She went on to lead Nickelodeon’s Gigantic from 2010 to 2011, star in Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha the following year, join the cast of HBO’s The Newsroom in 2013, and play Nora Ephron on Amazon’s Good Girls Revolt.
Gummer also starred in Standing Up, Falling Down with Ben Schwartz and Billy Crystal in 2019. This was the same year that she and the rest of the Mr. Robot cast had their last scene in the USA.
Jacob Buster (Peter Logan)
As Peter Logan, a young man with the same curse as Eleanor, we have Jacob Buster, who has been in another scary TV show before: USA’s Colony, which is about an alien invasion. But he has done more holiday movies (like 2013’s “Christmas for a Dollar”) and faith-based movies (like “Just Let Go” and “Miracle Worker”) than any other type in his career.
He has also been a guest star on Suits and Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans. He also had recurring roles on Ballers with Dwayne Johnson and in the Netflix miniseries Colin in Black & White, which was co-created by Ava DuVernay.
Kevin Carroll (Zeke Dawes)
Kevin Carroll plays Mark’s restaurant owner friend Zeke, who is one of the few people who know about Eleanor’s condition. Before joining the Let the Right One In the cast, Carroll had never been in a fight with a vampire.
But he has fought against the Devil on Lucifer, dangerous cults on Facebook Watch’s Sacred Lies, serial killers in Bloodline, murderous art in Velvet Buzzsaw, zombies on The Walking Dead, and his own faith on The Leftovers. Carroll also played a cab driver in “Being John Malkovich” and a former Black Panther on “Snowfall” on FX. In 2018, he was part of the cast of “Blindspotting” by Daveed Diggs.
Nick Stahl (Matthew)
Nick Stahl, who plays Matthew, a former soldier, and friend of the Logan family, also fought zombies on Fear the Walking Dead. The actor has also fought against cyborgs as John Connor in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, a more biblical version of the end of the world on HBO’s Carnivale, war itself in The Thin Red Line, and his parents in the Oscar-nominated film In the Bedroom.
He made his first movie appearance in The Man Without a Face, which was Mel Gibson’s first movie as a director. He later joined the cast of Sin City as Yellow Bastard and starred in a 2022 horror movie called What Josiah Saw, which is only available to watch on Shudder.
The actors in Let the Right One In might be the most exciting group of vampire actors in a show this year (which has had its fair share of such titles). Watch the series on Showtime on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET to see how they tell the now-classic story this time and decide for yourself how you like it.
