Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix Christmas movie, Falling for Christmas, has a cover version of the song “Jingle Bell Rock,” which she uses to pay homage to her critically acclaimed film Mean Girls, which was released in 2004.

The cover version of “Jingle Bell Rock” that the Mean Girls star, now 36 years old, has recorded may be pre-saved on all music streaming platforms and was included in the new teaser for her upcoming Netflix holiday film Falling for Christmas.
“The Falling For Christmas teaser has Lindsay Lohan performing “Jingle Bell Rock,” so get your [camera emoji] ready, because yes, that is Lindsay Lohan singing it! In addition, as a special gift for the Christmas season, Lindsay’s rendition of the classic song will be made available for streaming on November 4!” Netflix made the announcement on Twitter on Friday.
Her devoted followers will recall that she gave a sexy talent show performance to the tune with co-stars Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert in the iconic scene from the film Mean Girls, which was released in 2004. Her fans will recognize the Christmas classic as a reference to this moment.
After the CD player broke, the onscreen performance was in danger of being cut short, but Lohan’s character, Cady Heron, rallied her friends and the rest of the school to join in a chorus.
It was announced on Friday that Lohan will be making her long-awaited comeback to acting in the film Falling for Christmas. Her latest cover, which was featured in the trailer for the film, also marks her return to the music industry.
In addition to singing in the films Freaky Friday (2003), Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004), and A Prairie Home Companion (2005), she published her first studio album, titled Speak, in 2004, and then followed it up with another album, titled A Little More Personal (Raw), in 2005. (2006).
According to a plot summary provided by Netflix, the film Falling for Christmas follows the story of “A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress (Lohan) who gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia, and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet), and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lohan stated that her comeback to the acting world is imminent “as easy as riding a bike,’ and he continued, ‘It’s just in me.’ It is ingrained in who I am. Being able to share a tale with other people, whether by acting in movies or portraying a role, is something that provides me a great deal of delight. It is such a gift to be able to take other folks on this trip with me.”
The song “Jingle Bell Rock” by Lohan will be released on November 4 and may be pre-saved now. On November 10, Falling for Christmas will make its debut on Netflix.
