Discovery Plus’s new Armie Hammer documentary trailer is ominous

Since several women came forward in 2021 to speak out against the Call Me By Your Name actor, claiming that he was abusive and manipulative in his sexual relationships with them—with more obscene material, including alleged cannibalism fantasies, also factoring in to his sudden disappearance from the public eye—things have been very quiet in the Armie Hammer portions of the news sphere.

Projects ceased, roles were recast, his agency fired him, and Hammer—who vehemently rejected the accusations, which were corroborated by texts from the alleged victims—basically disappeared.

(Give or take rumours that he just sold timeshares in the Cayman Islands, which Variety reportedly was able to confirm as accurate.)

He’s back now, though presumably not in a way that would make Hammer himself happy.

A trailer for House Of Hammer, a new documentary special on Hammer and his family, was made available by Discovery+ today.

In it, Courtney Vucekovich and Julia Morrison—two of the women who have accused Hammer of abusing them—discuss his treatment of them in gruesome detail.

Readings from texts, descriptions of imaginations, and discussions of manipulative behaviour patterns take place. It’s rather abrasive material.

But the special’s creators, Talos Film, vow to explore the history of the incredibly powerful Hammer family as a whole, going all the way back to Hammer’s great-grandfather, Armand Hammer, who was a hugely significant figure in the 20th century.

In order to achieve this, Casey Hammer, Armie Hammer’s aunt, has been enlisted to speak to the camera about “the dark, twisted secrets of the Hammer family,” which the trailer suggests may include those of her grandfather, father, brother, and nephew.

His agency sacked him, projects came to a halt, roles were recast, and Hammer—who fiercely denied the allegations, which were supported by texts from the putative victims—basically vanished.

With or without the rumours that he recently sold timeshares in the Cayman Islands, which Variety allegedly was able to verify as true.
