Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the United States now have access to a far wider variety of online food shopping alternatives thanks to Instacart.
The announcement was made by the platform on Monday that SNAP electronic benefits transfer card payments are now able to be used to purchase groceries on its app in ten additional states.
According to TechCrunch, the 10 states are as follows: Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, as well as Wyoming.
That takes the grand number up to 49 states plus the District of Columbia. Alaska is the only state that does not accept EBT payments through Instacart; the other 49 states do.
According to Supermarket News, as a result of the expansion, Instacart has said that it now accepts SNAP EBT payments at more than 60 retailers with 8,000 or more outlets and that it covers approximately 30 million SNAP participants a statement, Instacart’s vice president of access to food and nutrition, Sarah Mastrorocco, said that the company was “proud to bring this critical service to people in 10 additional states in partnership with grocers that people know, love, and trust.”
“We’ve long advocated expanding online EBT SNAP acceptance,” Mastrorocco said. “We’re proud to bring this critical service to people in 10 additional states.”
With this growth, we are providing more families with access to nourishing food, along with the added convenience of same-day delivery and pickup of their orders.
The companies with whom we are affiliated provide their clientele not only a comprehensive selection of freshly made delights but also a comprehensive selection of pantry necessities.
We are beyond thrilled to keep expanding this service and making it possible for additional retailers to start accepting SNAP and EBT payments online through the Instacart Platform. This fills us with a great deal of joy. This brings a great deal of happiness to both of our hearts.
Beginning in November 2020, Instacart started taking payments that were made using SNAP EBT as a form of payment.
Participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have the option of shopping for groceries for in-store pickup or for delivery using the Instacart app or the websites and apps of participating retailers that are powered by Instacart Platform.
These options are available to them regardless of whether they choose to shop for in-store pickup or for delivery.
They also have the option of shopping through the Instacart platform for in-store pickup of their purchases. Those who take part in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have the option of doing their grocery shopping through the Instacart platform, with the choice between having their items delivered to their homes or picked up in-store.
