The announcement made by the Commerce Department last week that the economy had contracted for a second consecutive quarter—which many analysts consider to be the straightforward definition of a “recession”—has caused relief to spread throughout this month, despite opposition from the administration of President Joe Biden and some economists who prefer to wait for the National Bureau of Economic Research to make the official declaration.

Delaware
Since May, the state of Delaware has been distributing one-time relief cheques in the amount of $300 to each adult resident who has already filed their tax return for the year 2021, and it will continue to do so throughout the summer.

Florida
Households that are eligible for Temporary Cash Assistance (also known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Relative/Non-Relative Caregiver Funds, Adoption and/or Foster Care, and/or Relative/Non-Relative Caregiver Funds can receive financial assistance from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Due to the fact that the payments are already being paid out automatically, there is no need for families that are eligible for the benefit to submit an application.
Georgia
Since the month of May, the state of Georgia has begun issuing one-time reimbursements to taxpayers who have already filed their state returns for the years 2020 and 2021 in the amounts of $250 for taxpayers who filed their returns as singles, $500 for taxpayers who filed their returns as joint, and $375 for taxpayers who filed their returns as heads of household. How the tax return for 2020 is prepared will determine the amount of the refund.
Hawaii
Checks in the amount of $300 will be issued to residents of Hawaii whose annual incomes are less than $100,000 (or $200,000 for joint filers), and additional payments will be made for those who have dependents.
This legislation was recently signed into law by Hawaii’s Governor David Ige. A one-time relief cheque in the amount of $100 will be provided to those individuals whose income was greater than $100,000 (or $200,000 for joint filers).
Illinois
On July 1st, the Illinois Family Relief Plan, a relief programme with an anticipated total cost of around $1.83 billion, went into effect. These payments will be distributed without human intervention.
Indiana
Since the month of May, the state of Indiana has given a payment of $125 to each and every taxpayer, regardless of the household income.
Minnesota
Frontline workers in the state of Minnesota are eligible to receive a one-time payment of $750. Late in the previous month, payments began to be made, but all applications needed to be in by the 22nd of this month.

NM (New Mexico)
