On Wednesday, Senator Joe Manchin stated that he and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer have struck an agreement on a domestic spending measure that will include adjustments to tax policy as well as provisions about energy programmes.
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will be put up for a vote on the Senate floor the following week, according to a statement released jointly by Democratic Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Charles Schumer of New York.

The bill would raise $313 billion through a corporate minimum tax of 15 per cent, $288 billion through adjustments to the pricing of prescription drugs, $124 billion through enforcement of the reformed tax system by the IRS, and $14 billion through the closure of the carried interest loophole.
Additionally, it allocates roughly $370 billion in expenditure on energy and climate over the next 10 years, in addition to $64 billion to continue an enlarged Affordable Care Act programme for three years, resulting in a total reduction of the deficit of more than $300 billion.
In his own statement, Manchin claimed that he will vote in favour of the plan, even though he frequently prevents the Democratic agenda from receiving the backing of his vital vote in the Senate, which is evenly divided.
He stated, “Let me make it clear, I will not vote to support policies that make the United States more dependent on foreign energy and supply chains or risk moving the country closer to the unstable and vulnerable European model of energy we are witnessing today.”

Manchin and Schumer stated that they had also established a deal to pass the measure before the end of the fiscal year with President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California.
In a statement, Vice President Biden referred to the proposed legislation as something that, if passed into law, “would be historic.” He also asked Congress to adopt the bill as soon as they can.
