Child Tax Credit, IRS Vita Programs, Cheap Gas, and More!

Hello everyone, and welcome to our American Finances Updates live blog this Tuesday, July 19, as we continue to provide you with all the information you need to stay informed about benefit schemes in the United States of America.

Although the federal government is no longer providing stimulus funds on a national scale, several states are still taking matters into their own hands.

This week, four states are distributing stimulus checks, and we’ll discuss them as well as the other benefit programs in place in the United States.

Remember that, as with our daily financial blogs, the most recent updates are at the top.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) established the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to assist people across the United States of America who require assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

Low- and moderate-income taxpayers over the age of 50 in communities throughout California can now get free tax filing assistance if they qualify. It is just one of several schemes in place across the United States.

Who is eligible for the VITA? Applicants must earn less than 58,000 USD to be eligible for the VITA scheme. The program also assists people with disabilities and those with a limited command of the English language.

“In addition to VITA, the TCE program offers free tax help, particularly for those 60 and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors,” according to the IRS website.

Child Tax Credit 2022

The Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Program were established as part of Pennsylvania’s new $45.2 billion budget, which was approved by Governor Tom Wolf.

It is the latest in a long line of schemes being implemented throughout the United States of America.

The scheme received approximately $25 million in funding from the state to help families cope with the financial strains caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Who is eligible for the Child Tax Credit? The CTC would be available to single filers earning less than USD 75,000, as well as joint filers earning less than double the aforementioned figure.

Meanwhile, the income limit for single heads of households has been set at 112,500USD. All eligible applicants must have at least one qualifying child.
