Who Qualifies for 2022 State Stimulus Checks? When Will Payments Be Made?

With a plan to send eligible residents an income tax rebate check, South Carolina became the newest state to tackle escalating inflation and the rising possibility of a recession in late June.

Taxpayers will get up to $800 in late November or early December thanks to legislation that Governor Henry McMaster approved that reduces their tax burden.

At the height of the pandemic, three rounds of stimulus cheques were given by the federal government. At least 17 states have already sent tax refund payments, and more are very unlikely to do so this year.

Here is where locals can look for tax refunds, how much they might anticipate receiving, and when the money might appear.

The governor, Gavin Newsom, and state legislators have agreed to send millions of Californians inflation relief cheques, which can be as much as $1,050 for a married couple with at least one child.

According to The Sacramento Bee, the payments, which will be made from California’s $97 billion budget surplus, would start to be distributed as direct transfers or debit cards as early as October of 2023.

Based on their household size, tax filing status, and income, residents receive a certain amount.

Couples filing jointly and single taxpayers making less than $150,000 annually will each receive $350, with an additional $350 if they have any dependents. Single taxpayers making less than $75,000 annually will receive $350. So, a married couple with kids might get up to $1,050.

Couples who earn between $150,000 and $250,000 per year and single filers who make between $75,000 and $125,000 per year will each receive $250 in tax credits, plus an additional $250 if they have dependents. This means that a family with kids might get $750 overall.

Couples filing jointly and individuals filing separately who make between $125,000 and $250,000 annually are each eligibles for $200. The most that might be given to a household with kids in this category is $600.

The payments are not available to single taxpayers making more than $250,000 or to married couples making more than $500,000 together.

Residents of the state who filed their 2021 returns by June 30 will receive a check for $750 by September, while joint filers will receive $1,500. The deadline for refunds for filers who requested an extension and submitted by October 17 is January 31, 2023.
