After losing the 2020 presidential election, former President Donald Trump’s children were torn between denial and wrath, the British filmmaker who had access to the family told Insider.
For a covert project aimed at capturing the 2020 election and its aftermath, Alex Holder spent weeks filming the Trump campaign and speaking with the former president and his family.
During the committee hearings on January 6, his work was made public after the panel used his video as proof.
Holder spoke about seeing a “mixture” of reactions from Ivanka, Eric, and Don Jr., the three eldest children of President Trump, in a Tuesday interview with Insider.
One of them would occasionally adopt a tone that was “kind of terribly unhappy and upset about the eventual result,” Holder told Insider.
The other kids, on the other hand, were “completely in denial and would not even allude, talk or engage with anything to do with the fact that they were no longer in the White House and the calamity that had occurred earlier.”
For each description, Holder did not specify which particular kids he meant. However, his descriptions mirrored widely reported accounts of the Trump children in the days following the election.
Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the president’s two eldest sons, have publicly supported their father’s unsubstantiated assertions that the election was rigged.
Don Jr. asked former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to investigate “many ways” to reverse his father’s election defeat in a series of texts, which were originally made public by CNN.
Holder stated in a separate interview with The Independent that Eric was unconcerned about possible violence from Trump supporters in response to erroneous allegations of election fraud.
Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, on the other hand, reportedly kept quiet in the last weeks of Trump’s administration while gradually separating themselves from the leadership, according to The New York Times.
The Further York Times obtained footage from Holder’s documentary last month that appeared to show Ivanka Trump saying that her father should continue to fight the election results “until every legal remedy is exhausted.” This raised new concerns about Ivanka’s position in the election.
According to the Times, that video was shot in December 2020.
Her remarks ran counter to evidence she provided before the January 6 committee last month, in which she claimed to have “accepted” the election’s results after former Attorney General William Barr declared there was no election fraud.

After it became known that the House Select Committee looking into the January 6 attack had subpoenaed Holder’s footage, he found himself in the middle of an odd political tempest. He has already given a private testimony before the panel.
Insider’s request for comment from the Trump Organization was not immediately answered.
On July 10, the entirety of Holder’s documentary is scheduled to air on the Discovery+ streaming platform.
