In a blog post published on Wednesday, the former acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney expressed his opinion that the true danger to former president Donald Trump was evidence that may support charges of obstructing the course of justice.
Mulvaney commented on a former White House aide’s shocking testimony before the House select committee looking into the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, in an opinion piece for USA Today.
Beginning in early 2019, Mulvaney served as Trump’s acting chief of staff for more than a year. The former staffer who testified, Cassidy Hutchinson, worked for Mark Meadows, who succeeded Mulvaney.
Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming spoke toward the end of the session, citing the testimony of panel witnesses from January 6 who claimed to have received two messages prior to giving their depositions.
The texts further emphasised the importance of being a “team player” in order to “stay in good graces in the Trump universe” and reminded recipients that Trump reads interview transcripts.
The message’s inferred meaning, according to Mulvaney, was “crystal evident” when it was displayed during the hearing.
Mulvaney said in his letter that he has previously defended the former president against accusations that he participated in the Capitol disturbance by doing “anything illegal or criminal.” However, he claimed he was finding it difficult to stick to that stance, especially in light of Hutchinson’s testimony, which he described as “eminently convincing.”
Because of some of the bombshells that were released during that session, Mulvaney predicted that the former president’s situation might become very dire.
However, according to Mulvaney, the hearing on Tuesday exposed one genuine threat to Trump that wasn’t dependent on Hutchinson’s claims or defensibility. He wrote, “It is the one that jumped out at me.” And the former president should be most concerned about that one.
He made reference to the testimony of panel witnesses from January 6 who claimed to have received two communications before giving their depositions, which was evidence given by Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming toward the close of the session.
The texts also reminded recipients that Trump reads interview transcripts and made references to becoming a “team player” to “remain in good graces in the Trump world.”
Mulvaney claimed that the message’s implied meaning was “crystal clear” when it was displayed during the hearing.

According to Mulvaney, “the Jan. 6 committee members think they have evidence that members of the Trump organisation tried to intimidate witnesses.” And that is obstruction of justice in any way you look at it.
“Even if Donald Trump were as innocent as the virgin snow that January 6, even if he didn’t know about the guns, didn’t assault his agent, or had no idea what the Proud Boys were up to, if he obstructed justice related to the Jan. 6 hearings, then he could very well become the next politician to learn the difficult lesson that it usually isn’t the crime,” he continued. It is a cover-up.
