On May 9, the Connecticut Child Tax Rebate was approved by Governor Ned Lamont.
A portion of Connecticut’s massive $4 billion budget surplus was returned to taxpayers.
Lamont predicted that payments would be distributed in August, close to the beginning of the academic year.
For the rebate to be provided to you without delay, he urged all Connecticut-based eligible families to apply.
Child tax credits are available in several states, including California, Idaho, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, and numerous more.

Age limit for CTC- On December 31, 2021, age is determined. “Your child is not eligible for the monthly Child Tax Credit if they reach 18 this year,” said Congressman Steve Cohen in 2021.
However, the American Rescue Plan did include a $500 one-time credit for dependent children who are 18 years old or older and for dependent full-time college students who are between the ages of 19 and 24.
When was the CTC founded?
Established in 1997, the child tax credit.
It has existed for more than twenty years, and a provision in the American Rescue Plan, which was passed into law in March, boosted the payouts.
Before the change, Vox noted, “families earned a credit of up to $167 per month per child ages 16 and under.”
The CTC is discussed by CBPP.
Chuck Marr from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities told The Washington Post, “We observe parents getting the deposits, buying food, clothes, and school supplies exactly as anticipated.
Fewer kids are going to bed hungry across the nation. If only they could keep doing it and eventually make it permanent, that would be a significant accomplishment with historic potential.
According to CBPP, keeping the extended CTC benefits in place would contribute to a roughly 40% reduction in child poverty.
Did unauthorised immigrants get CTC?
Before 2021, families with mixed immigration status were not eligible for the programme; however, illegal parents with US citizen children were eligible to apply.
The child tax credit was increased last year to cover low-income families and illegal parents with kids who have Social Security numbers, but according to the IRS, families with parents who have an ITIN did not get the first payment in July because of a “problem.”
They can also receive $500 each if their dependents are full-time college students between the ages of 18 and 24.
Any family with children who were eligible for the most recent $1,400 stimulus check will get the monies for the child credit.
Previously, the majority of taxpayers could reduce their federal income tax payment by up to $2,000 per child.
The new law allows for a $3,000 tax credit for each child in a family between the ages of six and seventeen, but only for the 2021 tax year.
CTC’s support for families- 59 per cent of families used the child tax credit payments, according to a Center on Budget Priorities study, to help put food on the table.

If your family situation changed—for example, if you had a child go off to college, were expecting a baby, got married, or had your annual income change in 2021—all of these things could have an impact on your eligibility for the child tax credit last year and the amount of money you received in payments.
